About Us
ClimAgriFood is a multidisciplinary initiative dedicated to advancing climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable food systems across Africa and beyond. We bring together researchers, practitioners, and communities to co-create solutions that protect livelihoods, ecosystems, and food security in a changing climate.
Grounded in both rigorous research and on-the-ground fieldwork, our work spans climate adaptation, agro-advisory services, sustainable farming practices, and inclusive food system transformation.
Our Vision
Our vision is a world where farmers, communities, and ecosystems thrive together—supported by science-based policies, climate-smart practices, and equitable access to knowledge and resources.
- Strengthen resilience of rural and urban food systems
- Promote sustainable, low-carbon agricultural practices
- Support inclusive partnerships that give voice to farmers, youth, and marginalized groups
Our Mission
Our mission is to bridge research, practice, and policy to drive impactful and scalable change in agriculture and food systems. We do this by:
- Conducting applied research on climate adaptation, agro-advisory services, and sustainable food production
- Translating evidence into practical tools, training, and decision-support for farmers, practitioners, and policymakers
- Facilitating multistakeholder dialogue and partnerships across sectors and regions
- Building capacity through education, mentorship, and knowledge exchange
What We Do
Climate Adaptation & Agro-Advisory Services
We design and test climate-smart advisory services that help farmers make informed decisions on crops, inputs, and management practices. Our work includes:
Climate Adaptation & Agro-Advisory Services
We design and test climate-smart advisory services that help farmers make informed decisions on crops, inputs, and management practices.
- Developing and piloting agro-advisory tools and services
- Supporting field trials and demonstration sites
- Co-producing knowledge with local communities and institutions
Sustainable Farming & Food Systems
We promote sustainable, regenerative, and resource-efficient farming approaches that improve productivity while safeguarding ecosystems.
- Field research on soil health, water use, and biodiversity
- Studies on urban and rural food system dynamics
- Support for innovative value chains and circular bioeconomy approaches

Sustainable Farming & Food Systems
We explore and promote sustainable, regenerative, and resource-efficient farming approaches that improve productivity while safeguarding ecosystems. Our activities include:
- Field research on soil health, water use, and biodiversity
- Studies on urban and rural food system dynamics

Research, Policy, and Practice Interface
We work at the intersection of science, policy, and practice, ensuring that evidence informs real-world decisions:
- Policy-relevant research and evidence syntheses
- Contributions to national, regional, and international dialogues
- Partnerships with universities, research institutes, NGOs, and government agencies
Our Approach
We believe impactful change requires more than technical solutions. Our approach is:
- Interdisciplinary: Combining climate science, agronomy, economics, social sciences, and policy studies
- Participatory: Engaging farmers, youth, local leaders, and stakeholders throughout the research process
- Context-Specific: Designing solutions tailored to local realities and needs
- Data-Driven: Grounding recommendations in robust data, field evidence, and continuous learning
Why Our Work Matters
Climate change is reshaping agriculture and food systems. Farmers, especially in vulnerable regions, face increasingly unpredictable seasons, extreme events, and market pressures. At the same time, food systems must become:
- More sustainable, to protect soils, water, and biodiversity
- More inclusive, to ensure fair opportunities and outcomes
- More resilient, to withstand shocks and stresses
Our work contributes to evidence-based strategies that help achieve these goals, supporting progress towards national priorities and global agendas such as the SDGs and climate commitments.
